What was your lowest temperature and wind chill this morning?
I checked the observations and Devils Lake, ND had a wind chill of -53F this morning.
Stay warm everyone.

Default You left your back door open again ND

As I kid my son who lives in Minot, you left your back door open again and it's getting chilly down here in Wisconsin! Close it, so we can warm up down here, p-l-e-a-s-e.

Even with this colder air I think the average temperatures for the month in you area are near average. This is just more of an "average" winter.

For most of the state....monthly averages are still running a bit above normal.

Up to Monday 1/28...Grand Forks (NWS site) average high/low for January 2008 was 14.7/-2.2 for an average temp of 6.2 degrees or 2.0 above normal and Fargo average high/low thru 1/28 was 17.7/-1.1 for an average temp of 7.9 degrees or 1.3 above normal.

For Bismarck....average high/low so far is 25.8/0.6 for an average temp of 13.2 or 3.2 degrees above normal. Minot is 25.9/4.8 for an average temp of 15.3 or 5.3 degrees above normal so far.

But since as I write this today (tues) and it has not ended...and with the upcoming cold on Wednesday I bet we will fall back to just about average when it comes to temps overall for the month of January

Dan

OH, my god, 2 degrees above normal. Well that proves it, what about those days that are 5 degrees below average? guess what its called average for a reason. when and AVERAGE temp is 10 degrees that doesn't mean if it is not 10 degrees that day its the end of the world, it means one year it will be 15 degrees maybe 5 the next. The world has gone through cooling and heating period LONG before man came along and will continue to do so long after we are gone, some people just have nothing better to do than try to scare people.

Well, your southern neighbor here~according to our local news our Oct~Nov. temps were above average. They said that Dec. was below average and that the end result for Jan. seems like it'll also be below average. Down here in southeastern So. Dak., we didn't get as cold Tues. morning as many of you did, but we did hit -29 with windchill. Wonder what that would've been on the old scale.

Anyone ready to join my organization? It's called, "Dakotans for global warming."

You North Dakotans have become sissys. When I was a teen ager in the 60's up at Wildrose it got down to 38-40 below and that wasn't wind chill. Now days they cancel school when it gets to 20 below.
