I just wanted to let inquiring eyes know that the "birds' eye view" feature on MSN's Virtual Earth satellite imagery application is now available for our region. Another member sent me a DM asking about a certain intersection in South Wilkes-Barre that I was unaware of, so I decided to scope it out from "above." Needless to say I was giddy with delight when I realized I could now see the images crystal clear, as if one were in a low-flying aircraft. The images are so crisp that you can just about make out the makes and models of vehicles on roadways. I just learned that there are more homes in my subdivision with swimming pools than I initially thought! LOL!

To access the images, feel free to follow this link: Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible Enjoy!

Too late! I already saw the tan lines from the comfort of my home office with a bowl of ice cream on my lap!

Just to give you an example of the clarity and recency of these photos, I will post several. This first one is part of the new Quail Hill subdivision in Pittston Township, Luzerne County.

It seems the new technology hasn't made it to Scranton yet. Can't get the birds eye view of my house yet...

Ahhhh...yet more typical suburban scenes here in "The Pittstons." I can't quite zoom in closely enough to see the Desperate Housewives power-walking in their neon spandex suits with their iPods blaring (note the absence of sidewalks too in most images!)

I can follow the view all the way up Main Street through Old Forge and most of Taylor, but then it becomes a dead zone once you hit Scranton. That's odd.

Here's part of my "hood" in Pittston Township, adjacent to the upcoming Pittston Crossings project.
