Default Mount Pocono is on "TOP Ten" destination List

Gosh can you imagine that Mount Pocono and Keauhou, Hawaii are on a list with something in common? TripAdvisor dot com listed Mt. Pocono as 4th in the top destinations to visit for 2009.
Just under Keauhou, Hawaii. Wow, and the beautiful Hawaii being 3rd!?
They use a complicated formula that is very secret and they will not discribe it.
They collect information from Internet searches to predict travel trends.
Here is the top 10.:
1. St. Geroge, Utah
2. Englewood, Fla
3. Heauhou, Hawaii
4. Mount Pocono
5 Haines, Alaska
6. Bainbridge Island, Wash.
7. New Buffalo, Mich.
8. Pahoa, Hawaii
9. Gurnee, Ill.
10.Ruskin, Gla.

The list is not of the most popular places to visit but what travleers are searching . ( I bet a bunch of searches began right here on City Data.)
It emerges that Mt. Pocono is a hot spot for travel.
The Pocono Record notes that its proximity to New York and Philly, and the opening of the Mount Airy Casino ,could be reasons for the uptick.
Travelers planning weekends here and searching for lodging could be a factor.
I don't know about you, but I use Trip Advisor all the time just to find out the condition of the hotel I would be using. One time I had to post on that site a horror of a time we had at a Hol..... Inn. Changing rooms three times......because of water bugs and water dripping on walls

There are two traveler's concerns that I can think of that are becoming important to people, and where I think the poconos ranks pretty well...1) it can be a very affordable vacation, 2) it is not that far to travel, and some are being more conscious of their carbon footprints and focusing on attractions that are not so far away.

I really love our Great Wolf Lodge. I wonder if that helps.......people love to stay at a GW Lodge. Plus now we have gambling, and some new golf courses like the Jack Frost. Soon, with two other waterparks opening,we will be a big "water park capitol"
I'm afraid my carbon foot prints, MermanMike.......are on the ocean shores.
