Make sure to scroll all the way down, because the better one's are toward the middle and bottom of the page.

I was disappointed by how dark the W-B skyline was for the holiday's this year. So I decided to do something about it. I called the mayor's office, Leadership W-B, and finally the Luzerne Foundation who does fund raising for various projects throughout the Wyoming Valley. I have an appointment with a represenative from the Luzerne Foundation this Wednesday where I will pitch my idea "Operation: Light up the Sky". If all goes well, and they like the idea, the wheels will be set in motion to raise money to purchase, and crown all of downtown W-B's tallest buildings in beautiful, bright, white Christmas lights (hopefully in time for next years holiday season) Wish me luck, because if all goes well, Wilkes-Barre's skyline will be set aglow by Christmas time next year, or however long it takes to raise enough money to do it properly. I will be counting on all of you out there for a small contribution of course. I'll keep you all updated on what happens at the meeting, and if they give this project the green light. Keep your fingers crossed!

After viewing the Skyline Poll, I searched for Wilkes-Barre skyline photos and found that. I've been over to SkyscraperPage before; interesting forum.

Vasiliy Meshko, the young gentleman who posted those photos, is a friend of mine at King's. Contrary to popular belief there ARE younger people here in NEPA who want to make a difference!

Calling downtown Wilkes-Barre or Scranton a "skyline" is stretching it a little, don't you think....?

"Young People" are not the only people who want to improve and make a difference......
I'm sure of it. " Older people " too, think it is a fantastic idea.
Do some of you think when YOU are old"er" that you will loose your love of improving your beloved towns? It doesn't happen that way.......

Well W-B has a small skyline in comparison to big cities, but it still has a skyline. Scranton doesn't really have a skyline that I have seen. I think it's because all of downtown Scranton's building's are flat topped and relatively the same size, it gives the illusion of being flat...similar to Washington D.C. but smaller. Wilkes-Barre, on the other hand, has buildings of different shapes and sizes which give the city a small, but respectable skyline.

Default Unfortunately....

Wilkes-Barre sits in a valley. The traditional "Urban Skyline" doesn't work here. And without impressive buildings, close neighborhood shots are my favorites. Both Scranton and Wilkes-Barre present that special challenge!
