Hi, I am considering purchasing a vacation house in PA. Preferably in lake/pool community. We are in our mid 30s live in NYC and have a 4 year old child. We would like to spend up to 130k, and be at most 2 and a half hours away from NYC. Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks in advance.

we have vacation property in WLE ; for that price, you would probably get a fixer upper in decent shape. New properties are going for around $170 and up.

130 is definately the lower end of the scale at The Hideout, but there are a few. Mostly older 2 bedrooms.

You could not pay me to live in a community ,, I like to be able to do whatever I want around my home . In community's , Some will even dictate what colors you can have on the body of your house . Pay dues To SHARE pools . Nah Not for me ..

Sounds like a giant apartment! Ive always thought that renting in a community was like a step up from renting an apartment and a step down from private home ownership. Especially when you have to do your own lawn care

Well thats how you feel but some dont feel that way. I live in a private community and love it. As for the colors of the homes... in my community they like to keep the home colors in with the color scheme of the area. This way the homes blend in and not stand out and are gordy.
