We just moved here and we had purchased our cell phones before we came up here. We purchased Verizon and have been having an awful lot of trouble making phone calls. We can't make them half of the time. Is this the way it is up here or should we go with another provider/ What does everyone here use? Thanks.

Verizon has the best coverage in the Scranton area. Not sure which area you are in.

I have Verizon and live in Lake Ariel, which is close to Tafton. There is a way of getting a better reception but I cannot remember how to do it. Call Verizon and tell them you dont have good reception and they will tell you what to do to upgrade your phone to get better reception.

I am down the road from you in Greentown and travel back and forth to Hawley area often. We have AT&T and that area is really bad as far as coverage. We also have no service at our house. Someone told me that you can call the company and they can do something about it also, but I haven't tried it (because I can't imagine what exactly they could do).

Thanks. I am going to call tomorrow. I didn't want to have to get a landline but, I don't know. The family is all down in the Phila. area. I didn't know this was going to be a problem.

Disclaimer - I do not live in NEPA. But when my kids went to college out of state with their Verizon cell phones we did call verizon and they gave the kids a code to punch in to update the phones with the new areas cell towers. Ah, here's a link update software on phone - Verizon | Forums and Blogs - Verizon Community (http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Voice-and-Broadband-Calling/update-software-on-phone/td-p/18569;jsessionid=3F4E0254FA8EF9794743A184D1EAC368 - broken link)

You just put in *228.

I live in Wayne County. I've had AT&T since 2002 with great results.
