It's getting to be around the time that Oktoberfests are being held. Does anyone know of any good festivals in the area? I'm currently in Sprinfield, just for some geographical reference.

There's one a couple miles away from you just over the Woodrow Wilson bridge at National Harbor. If you want to look around the greater Washington Metro area check out

There is also the Oktoberfest at Ft. Belvoir. It's September 29-October 2.

Can anyone suggest an Oktoberfest celebration that will not be infested with children and the parents that let them run amok?

I'm not sure if this helps, but the one at Reston Town Center has a separate area with rides for kids in a parking lot. It's a bit of a walk from the kids section to the main stage, so that somewhat keeps the kids away from the "drinking" area. RTC Oktoberfest isn't much of a drinking/party scene, though--other ones might be better if that's what you're seeking.

Thank you all for your replies. I wish I would have asked sooner now, because I will be out of town the weekend Das Best Oktoberfest is being held. The one at Fort Belvoir looks good as well, and I will probably check that one out. Thanks again!

How about one that's not infested with drunks?

There's a nice Oktoberfest in Vienna; there are children there but it's still, y'know, a nice Oktoberfest.
