Hi there, how long would this commute be, using route 7 and then the Greenway...how would you go from there and how long would it take in rush hour if it takes 30 minutes for us to get to Herndon during rush hour.

Thanks!

I don't know a specific answer, but "commute from hell" pretty much sums it up.

When going from Sterling to Arlington I take the toll road to 66 and allow 45 minutes. It really depends on what part of Arlington will be your destination.

Are you HOV or non-HOV compliant? If HOV, I would venture about 1-1:15, depending upon the part of Arlington. If non-HOV, you would have to exit at the Beltway, make your way to Route 7 or Route 50, and then continue to Arlington. That could easily add 25-30 minutes to the above times. Depending upon the part of Arlington, there may be an easier way than the major routes, even during rush hour.

Non-HOV, I would think you're in the zone at 90 minutes...depending upon the morning and how far into Arlington you need to go.

Non-hov=that is a killself commute. Doesn't Loudoun have a bunch of big commuter buses? Do any drop off in Ballston? What about a carpool?

it wouldn't be an every day commute, but possibly 2-3 times per week. I personally wouldn't do it, but is not for me

Ballston is shorter and offers a couple of options. You could take Toll Road to 123N to Great Falls Street, follow through Falls Church City, left on N Washington Street, R on Washington Boulevard (past East Falls Church Metro). Continue on Washington Blvd to Glebe, right on Glebe to Ballston.

You could also take 7 East from Tysons, branch off at Wilson to get to Ballston at Seven Corners. Route 50 would bring you to the same intersection at Seven Corners, and you could take Wilson.

Another way to go would be to get off at Tysons, take Gallows to Lee Highway, branch off on Hillwood Avenue (by Coleman Powersports, after the Saab dealer and Elevation Burger), which will take you to Seven Corners, and you could then pick up Wilson.
