Are you thinking of seceding from the state.... or from the country?

The last time Virginia seceded it was not taken kindly. The Feds have no sense of humor, I believe it was viewed as treason. My native state, West Virginia, seceded from Virginia in 1863 and I believe Virginia still holds a grudge.

Yes. Absolutely. Will it ever happen? No.

(I'm assuming you mean secession from RoVA. I don't want to secede from the U.S.)

Just remember that the next time your singing the praises of the southern cause. WV chose to break off from VA rather than joining the confederacy..

As for NoVA seceding, should NYC secede from NY? Should Southern Florida secede from Florida? Should Philly and Pittsburgh force the middle of the state to become Pennsyltucky?

The point is, NoVA is not the first place in the US to experience a disproportionate amount of success to the rest of its host state. It is naive to think that nova is somehow more important than Virginia, just because it has a high number of overpaid contractors living in poorly built McMansions sucking on the teat of the America's defense industry.

The notion that our tax dollars are being squandered on those Mod Cut in the RoVA is silly, considering the cash flow went one way from the Richmond and Norfolk to here area until about 30 years ago.

I honestly think the only people that truly believe NoVa should secede are either trolls, or relative newcomers from out of state who somehow cannot come to terms that they live in a southern state that which their friends from Jersey can make fun of.

Years and years ago (showing how long I've lived here) the old Journal newspapers, which don't exist anymore I think, did an actual article on the impact of NOVA succeeding. I don't remember the details, but what I hadn't even thought of was the college system. UVA, William & Mary, Va Tech, all of those would become out of state schools for tuition with GMU our "in state" school. Rather interesting thought.

Yeah, NOVA should break off from ROVA. The Virginia State government is pretty useless. They keep throwing away money at that useless, massive IT project and can't get results from the contractor. And they stripped away tons of staff from VDOT a few years ago, and look at the mess it is in now. So yeah, heck yeah!

If we become the 51st state, can we become the State of Confusion?
