If you're out buying halloween candy this week and wondering if you got too much, there's no need to fret. Bring it to the Cascades Center for Dental Health Nov. 1 and receive $1 for each pound donated.

The candy will be shipped to U.S. soldiers overseas. In addition, kids who donate also will receive a goodie bag with a flashing firefly toothbrush, and each donation will enter a family into a drawing for a free iPod. Last year, Cascades sent more than 600 pounds of candy to overseas troops.

There are similar programs throughout the area. This is just one I happen to know about, but this would be a great thread to start a list of other such programs. Cascades Center for Dental Health is at 46302 McClellan Way, Sterling.

LOL, no way! No freebies from me, you have to dress up and say "Trick or Treat." And maybe do a little dance, too. You want my candy, you have to work for it baby!

Something tells me if I showed up on your porch in costume asking for snickers, you'd be calling the police before you gave me candy I'm not as cute as the 5 year olds!

Have to chime in and say that I'm super proud of myself so far. I bought a Costco size bag of candy about 10 days or so ago and it's still in the pantry.....unopened, but oh so tempting!!!

You win--I am already on bag #2 of halloween candy at work. To be fair, I started in September though...

(okay, that doesn't make it much better)
