Hi, I am paying about $110 for Comcast basic crap cable and regular speed internet, which I think is 6 megabit down. I think the price is outrageous. I was wondering if anyone here would care to share the price after tax for FiOS. I need Internet access, so cutting over to Satellite is not feasible.

We had COMCAST for internet service only, $65/month. We couldn't get a bundle package because we have a contract with DirectTV that we couldn't break. We just cut it off and are now looking into satellite internet options.

seriously? My FIOS bill comes to $170something/month. However, I am past all my promotional periods and am paying full price. This includes $25/month on my multi-room DVR and receiver box in my bedroom, plus HD channels.

We have the Fios double play--no landline. The price comes to I think $80 month plus $10 for the box rental plus about $5 in taxes. The internet is fast, and the channels are adequate--no NatGeo but everything else one would expect other than premium movie channels. The HD is fantastic.

We used to have Comcrap and paid about $70/month after taxes for cable and limited-basic cable--which came with more channels than we were supposed to get when the guy hooked it up. (I.e., we paid for ltd-basic but got basic.)

What pushed me away from cable when we moved was that they want us to pay an installation fee. For what? The house already has tons of coaxial cable throughout.

FYI...
I called Verizon and asked for a "special" on the premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc) & got free Showtime & Stars for 3 months. When that expired, I called back & got the same deal for HBO & Movie channel. Just told them I was considering going back to DirecTV (which I really like better) & that's how I got the freebies.

Our monthly Verizon bill is around $210 - we have one "HD media DVR", an HD DVR, an HD box & and a non-HD box. We also have triple play w/TV, phone & internet. Plus the seemingly ongoing free Showtime, HBO, etc.

Any taxes, fees, charges, etc. if you just get internet only (specifically Cox)?

e. g. if you buy the $33 speed, is your actual bill $33?

Problem with satellite is you are capped at 2 Gigabyte per month. We had also looked into using our cell phones as internet access for our PCs. Verizon Cell phones ISP plans have a data cap as well.

I pay about $150 a month when all said & done for TV(HBO channels, 2 settop boxes, 1 of which is DVR & hi-def) and internet. Removing the HBO would knock about $15-20 off the bill I believe.
