Sunday PM, another late start so not much time. We parked on Americana, and again walked across the ped bridge over the beltway. Walked down the side trail to the CCT/accotink trail. this time turned left, south. Its mostly in open meadow beside the power lines, but with woods and the creek to the right. The meadow to the left, with is tiny stream valleys, looks like something out of lord of the rings (if you ignore the soccer game and skateboarding going on not far away). Then a couple of bridges and stream crossings. we went as far as Braddock rd. I had hoped we could go through the underpass beneath braddock, but DW needed to use facilities, so we walked toward the shopping centers at Braddock near the beltway using the narrow but still marginally usable pedestrian path on the north side of Braddock. Then when we got to the sign for the Audrey Moore Rec center, we decided to head for that, and walked up the road into the park. The rest rooms by the baseballs fields turned out to be open, so we utilized them. then walked back to the CCT, and headed back toward the pedestrian bridge. We had daylight left, so we walked to the Rec center to check it out (DW had been there years ago for a Bday party of one of DD's friends - I had never been there). We also noted the recycling bins at the parking lot (good to know, we get recycling pickup only once a week, which is sometimes inconvenient) Then walked up the gravel road (as a change from the side trail) to the pedestrian bridge - we looked a bit more closely at the construction on the beltway, and then crossed the bridge back to our car.
