I have about 1100 sq ft of hardwood floors that need to be sanded and refinished. Can any of you recommend a good company/person for this? I'm in Loudoun County.

It's a lot pricier than you might think--like 5 Dollars psf+. Let us know. My mom paid about 8 psf for new oak 3/4 thick flooring.

The going rate seems to be closer to $3 per square foot, including moving furniture out and back. Per DC Checkbook comments, the highest rated often-used refinishers in the area are Neslon Rivas and Angel Floors, but both are in Silver Spring. Don't know if they do Loudon County. On the VA side, Annandale Floor Finishers have been around since 1934 and have solid though not spectacular ratings. Might pay to ask about deep-cleaning and refinishing rather than sanding. It's easier and cheaper and you don't actually want to sand until you have to.

We bought an older house not too long ago and the floors need to be refinished. We are really thinking about doing this by ourselves (we're quite handy..) but wanted to call around and ask for pricing anyway. The house is still sitting empty so it would be the easiest to do it now, before we move in. I did a search on Angie's List today but wanted to see if anyone here had personal experience.

Happy 4th!!
