If you've been thinking about doing some photo tours, this sure is the perfect week for it. It's gorgeous out there. I just came back from a trip to Long Island and let me tell you, our foliage this year is ten times more spectacular than anything we saw.

This might get deleted since it's not NOVA. I rode my motorcycle into WV today and these pics came from Smoke Hole Rd. A beautiful ride any time of the year but unbelievable during fall. You can access Smoke Hole Rd off 55/28 just west of Petersburg off 220 just south of 55/28.

This fall has turned out to be pretty spectacular in the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounding areas. I'm surprised there are not more photos showing up here. Lets see more pics!!!

Here are some from around Purcellville, VA and the Blue Ridge Mountains which are about a 7-10 minute or so drive from our house.

Sidewalk on the edge of town: Purcellville:

Same maple trees with the mountains in the background:

The next 3 were taken from BearDen along the Appalachain Trail, about 1,500 feet up in Bluemont, VA, looking to the southwest. The tallest mountain in the background is the north end of the Massanutten Mountains at Front Royal. BearDen is about a 7-10 minute drive from my place in Purcellville:

Gorgeous pics! I like the first one especially; so often people blast the leaves away with a leaf-blower the minute they land. I like seeing leaves on the ground.

I see some of the most gorgeous scenes when I go out on foxhunt rides or cross country riding - you really can't beat the views.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to stop and take pictures nor am I able to take a camera with me

Thank you!

Yeah, it seems like folks out in the country are more apt to let the leaves lie where they fall until they are mostly done falling, where as in the city people are incredibly anal about getting most leaves on an almost daily basis. Not sure why that is, but I like the look of the fallen leaves, esp when they are still colorful. I say let sleeping leaves lie, until the trees are bare, then have fun raking (or blowing) them up into big piles like mountains! Thats what we used to do when we were kids, and we used to jump in em, and build leaf pile forts out of em.

If we do get a trace of snow this weekend, a photo of the snow of the leaves while they're at peak would be gorgeous.
