Wow - only about 25% were born in the Commonwealth of VA. I wonder how many were actually born in NoVA. And I wonder about the 26,001 number. They are "native" but born outside the US. I guess that means they were born on Military Bases outside US. I can't figure it out otherwise. That would make sense around here.

Many people in the area who are in their mid-40s or older live in NoVA but were born in Washington, DC. They would fall into the category of not having been born in Virginia but clearly are NoVA natives.

You're not alone. I'm from northeast Ohio, too, so I still root for the Browns and Indians (not a big basketball fan and no local hockey team there). Maybe someday we'll actually get to watch our football team play at this time of year...

My boyfriend is a diehard Steelers fan, though, so as long as they are not playing the Browns, it preserves the peace in the house to cheer along with him, even though it goes against everything I was taught growing up! He's also a Yankees fan, and he grew up here in Northern Virginia. He has been a fan of those teams since he was a kid.

I hear you. My wife is a Steelers fan too, but hey she is from western PA, so I "get it". I tell people we have a "mixed marriage".
Your boyfriend is from this area and he roots for the Steelers and Yankees? See, that I don't "get". If someone is from NY and is a Yankees fan I can understand.
