Moving from Japan to pentagon (Arlington, Huntington: apartments, transfer, prices)

i will be relocating to the pentagon. I need to find a nice apartment on the metro line, hopefully for around 2,000 month for 2 bedrooms. also does the pentagon issue metro tickets to employee to eliminate driving to and from and from work.

I can't help you on the apartments, but if you are a government employee you can take part in the Metrocheck transportation program. You will get a monthly stipend each month to use toward commuting on public transportation.

I'm not sure about the prices, but you might want to look in Arlington in the Clarendon and Courthouse areas. Rosslyn and Ballston in Arlington also might work. They would be very easy commutes although you would have to transfer from the orange line to the blue line (not a big deal). They are right along the metro line and there are tons of apartments in that area. Oh, and another area that is even closer to the pentagon that is being revitalized is the Colombia Pike area of Arlington. There isn't a metro there, but there are buses and it would be a very short bus ride. This area is probably a little cheaper.

(By the way, I also moved here from Japan when my father was transferred to the Pentagon.)

The gov't does give you Metrocheks (subsidies to pay for Metro trips) and many/most private companies will do the same.

$2k won't get you a 2BR in the Clarendeon area. It might get you something around Huntington (end of Yellow Line) or Columbia Pike (buses run every 10 minutes there.)
