We are moving to the area and are looking to rent a place. My husband will be working at the NRO in Chantilly. We found a place on Pepperbush pl in Stone Ridge. What do you know about the area? Is this a good neighborhood? The elementary school is Arcola. Does anyone know anything about it?

Thanks.

I like Stone Ridge. It has a nice shopping center, the newest county library is opening there in February, and a new hospital will be opening near there next year. It is also close to the multiple shopping centers in South Riding, and not far from the Brambleton Town Center (closest movie theater).

The commute down Route 50 is not going to be much fun (massive widening/construction) but your husband won't be going too far. Braddock Rd. might be an alternative but maybe someone who drives that way more frequently and in rush hour weigh in on that option.

Tbe closest things in all of Loudoun to a "bad neighborhood" is some parts of Sterling Park (and even there crime has decreased) and some parts of East Leesburg. You really have to try to go wrong to find bad (low scoring) schools and neighborhoods in Loudoun County.

Fairfax is more "polarized" in that there's large chunks of VERY high achievers and large chunks of lower achievers. Montgomery County Maryland is even more polarized, with the highest of the high achievers (Whitman typically scores higher than even Langley and McLean on the SATs) and schools like Wheaton that make folks in Mount Vernon blush,

I've found folks in Leesburg to be more laid back than folks in Ashburn but this is something where YMMV.
