I think it is safe. But the question is compared to what? In the area I live it is mostly military people with families so there isn't any issues.

For your insurance question, you should be able to contact your insurance company or agent at any time, and ask him/her how much would insurance be for the same policy but at xxxxx zipcode? Then that is one less unknown factor.

I live in the Woodlawn area of Route 1 in a townhouse (western side). Generally I do feel safe and it is an extremely diversified area in general. Some days I am like wow this is not too bad, other days I get a little nervous. Going for walks in the area makes you see things you would not normally see. I would say this is the worst part of Fairfax County for sure. I am so ready to get out of here.
