Hi all,

Looking for places in western Loudoun county where I can get groceries other than Giant/Wegmans/Harris Teeter/Safeway? I'm looking for places that have mostly the 'perimeter' items found in these grocery stores (meat, cheese, produce, dairy). I don't care much for stuff that's prepackaged or comes from a large manufacturer. Ideally a small country store that has fresh items from local farms is great. I'd consider a CSA but prefer more of a market-style (pick your own produce), but with a retail store.

Thanks!

PS If you're from western MA/Amherst, (Atkin's farm) would be something along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Round Hill Grocery on Main Street.

You might also try Philomont General Store, Hill Tom Market, and Purcellville Gateway. Not really sure how much these places have, but worth checking out.

Home Farm store in Middleburg will give you meat, cheese, and some dairy; although they have extremely limited produce. It is delicious, but very pricey.

Asian supermarkets have the best produce at the best prices.

I think there is a Lotte Plaza in Ashburn.

Wegmans actually has the best price I've been able to find for grass-fed ground beef. I find it easy to shop there - the entrance dumps you into fresh produce, then head back to the start of the meats and just stick to the outside edges and maybe the natural/organic section that's right next to the produce. Their organic cage-free eggs are cheaper than other grocery stores, and their yolks are a bit more orange (at least compared to Giant's organic cage-free eggs, which were still very yellow).

Try For Goodness Sake or Healthy By Nature in Leesburg if you cannot make the scads of farmers markets this area has.

There's also places like South Mountain Creamery that might be helpful; Washington Green Grocer provides weekly produce.
