Does anyone know if there is a study or plan for the subway to go out to the Burke area?

Yeah, I don't think there are any plans for metro to ever go to Burke.

There actually were plans like 50 years ago to put one in Burke but they never went through with it. Could be because they decided to not build an airport in Burke.

I think most Burke residents that want to metro just do the drive to Franconia Springfield if they have to get somewhere that VRE doesnt go direct to. VRE is quicker if you can do it to DC proper.

I think the fact that there is no metro in Burke is why burke is such an attractive city. Keeps the trouble out and keeps the small town charm in!

oh, no - not another "Metro brings the riff-raff" thread. This pops up all of the time. It's getting close to the top of my list of irritating thread topics.

But I don't think anything will overcome my most irritating topic; which are all of the threads basing the custom home builders........dear lord, when you pick something purely based on cost, you will get what you paid for! oh, but I digress.....

No plans for metro in Burke. VRE and metrobus go through Burke. Always plans to widen Braddock Road...

I wouldn't call Burke a "small town". Clifton is a small town. Burke reminds me more of Columbia, MD, ie a planned suburb. Note that I live here, so I'm not saying that's bad, I like Burke. And it's more affordable.

DC does need more transit, though. I'm glad they are expanding, silver, purple. It would be nice to have a leg circle around from Springfield up to Vienna and on up to Reston. There are too many things going to the center, too much "go in to come back out."

Not that Metro brings in riff-raff, but if Burke had a Metro station, it would definitely have a more urban landscape. There would be a lot more impoverished families and minorities. As it stands today, Burke is one of the whitest and wealthiest parts of Fairfax County.
