When the Springfield Mall existed, we would go occasionally. Eventually, we stopped going when crime there started to increase.

With the new Town Center, what is the clientele like now? Is it safer?

In the past, we would always drive there. However, we would be willing to go by Metrorail. How far a walk is it from the Metro station to the Town Center?

It's very nice now. I feel perfectly safe there. The old mall suffered a typical pattern of decline -- as malls start to deteriorate and stores start closing, it gets more and more deserted and becomes a great place to hang out for people who are up to no good. The new Springfield Town Center is spanking new and has been bustling the few times I've been there -- thereby making it unattractive to the people that used to hang out there.

And it's about two blocks from the Franconia Springfield metro. Tons of commuters park at the mall and walk to the metro every day.

The mall has been completely redone on the inside and looks like any other modern mall. A couple stores have yet to open yet and the food court still has places opening as well. Clientele is the same you'd see at Reston Town Center, Pentagon City Mall area, etc.

Never went to the old one but the new one seems nice to me. LA Fitness is always busy, the restaurants always have a wait - if you like beer, check out Yard House - I loved it. I've been shopping at Target since before the new mall opened and have always felt just fine. Still some stores and restaurants that have yet to open but I see no reason why one would want to avoid the Springfield Town Center aside from the typical reasons to avoid a mall - too busy, doesn't have the store you want, etc. Also, I have not tried out the new movie theatre yet, but I have heard good things from friends. Apparently, every chair reclines and you pick your specific seat when you buy your ticket.

Have been there frequently since it re-opened, mostly during the morning on a few Fridays and weekend afternoons. It's great to have this space back. No crime concerns and a nice mix of stores. I'm a fan of Chuy's already. It's no more than a 10 minute walk from the metro, the hardest part is that it's not truly pedestrian friendly, especially with the widening of the road to the east of the mall, but it's not impossible.

It’s nice with a solid selection of restaurants (and more eateries to come in the food court).
The ambiance is nice at Chuy’s but I thought the food was just OK – would much rather go to ElPaso off of Commerce St. , strictly as far as food is concerned.

More stores are expected too, it will be nice if they bring in mid-to-high range clothing stores like Aldo, Armani Exchange, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, A&F/Hollister, Kenneth Cole etc. Stores that cater to a variety of age demographics, types of attire, budget ranges etc.
A Zara store would be nice too, will likely serve well the residents of the immediate vicinity and Burke/Lorton/Woodbridge and other I-95 corridor residents, for whom Tysons would be kind of a hike.

Supposedly, Uniqlo is slated to open in STC too – that would be awesome!

&Pizza and Nando's are probably my favorite restaurants at the Mall (fast casual). Maggiano's is good too. I think Yard House is overpriced and Chuy's is decent enough.
