Property crime is the typical crime in LR but this is the norm pretty much all over the country. Crimes of violence will occur much less frequent meaning your chances of becoming a victim of one are slim unless you like to put yourself in a position of becoming one. You can find good neighborhoods all over. Just need to have a good real estate agent you can trust.
I agree.

I’ve been a resident of Lake Ridge for a little over 10 years. I feel it’s a safe area. We live off Springwoods Drive and as a woman, have no concerns about taking walks alone (with the usual precautions).

Agreed with above concerning lake ridge. I'll also say if HOA is a concern, be sure to confirm you have/don't have one as there are parts that people call lake ridge that are outside of their HOA (mainly up around tacketts mill)

There are a lot worse places than Woodbridge... I call it Hoodbridge for a laugh and to keep people moving here as traffic is already bad, no need to add more people. For the OP, I'd live as close to work as possible as traffic can be a nightmare around here. The good thing with woodbridge, there are a lot of mass transit options.

As far as our planning, it's just the same as springfield or Vienna. My buddy is tearing down a 1960s rambler to build a million dollar house. It is not the only house on the street to have that done. He showed me pictures and I find it amusing to see these huge modern houses towering over the 1960 cookie cutter houses. In Springfield I remember people skirting the regulation against complete tear downs. They would do a giant add onto the existing rambler, then do it again on the other side. Probably cost more to do it that way, but they got it done regardless.

Can you say which street in Woodbridge? Just curious where this is happening. When I worked in Dunn Loring for two years after leaving PWC it was so common to see the million dollar homes on a neighborhood street with homes 1/5th of its size. I saw numerous being torn down in my two years there where a mansion was built to replace it. On the same tiny lot.

It's not in Woodbridge, he's doing this on a house in Vienna. Sorry for the confusion.

I live in a house built in the 70s and it's next to a neighborhood built in the last 10-15 years. The new houses have a lot smaller than my quarter acre but those houses are probably 2-3 times the size of mine. It looks like you can lean out the window and touch the neighbor

This would drive me insane. I owned a townhome in Manassas in 85/86 and in 86 we found a fenced in one acre lot with a rambler on it on the outskirts of Manassas and even that was too close to my neighbors. And we had good neighbors. Now we're on 5 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of cattle and farmland and we love it. If we go upstairs and look out the windows we can see the tops of our closest neighbors home and barn.

good high schools??? you can try to snag a home close to the captain nemo school (colgan) other than that... there are some nice patches in lakeridge.

other than that.... shruggy arms with some private schools (pope john paul)...

not a lot a good places in between... i lived in 22191...port potomac... if ur serious about schools and pwc its gonna take some research.. if not... check for fairfax and loudoun as there are a ton of good schools.

don't get hung on the commute from woodbride.. tons of military folk made that mistake... had their kids fighting to keep their shoes and respect .....
