Im looking at a property on:

5414 Easton Drive off from Chatham St, in Northern Springfield, inside the beltway.

Good area? Bad? Opinions?

I don't know that area well, but I think it would be respectable and is a fairly convenient location. Will you be visiting and able to check it out in person, or do you need to sign without seeing it in person?

That area's mostly residential. The part of Springfield people complain most about is in the industrial mixed-use area near the mall.

My family is military and we can go there to check it out, but its kinda a pain in the butt as we are packing up our stuff out here in San Diego right now. I do have a good friend who is wicked picky and has an opinion that I hold in high regard checking it out..but even checking it out only give you so much info.
I moved into a beach house here in san diego and thought the neighborhood seemed pretty great..until summertime hit, then there were drunks, beer and bongs all over the place..lol...pretty much like college all over again. funny when you are 20..but not cool when you are 30 and have a 2 year old.

The lack of apartment buildings and large lots make this neighborhood well above average. You can come out of the neighborhood on Braddock or Backlick; so you have alternative routes to The Pentagon, Navy Yard, etc....

It's a good area. Schools are good, community is clean, convenient to everything. Great parks and recs. A few homes are occupied by more than one family, but that is happening all over. West Springfield, Kings Park, etc. are good areas as well, just on the other side of the highway. Good luck to you.

That is a safe neighborhood. It has a nice mixture of families and retirees. I believe the homes were built in the 50's or 60's so you'll want to make sure that the one you choose has been well maintained. By now most have had upgrades, but you'll want to check.

You would have quick access to 495/395/95.
