Front Royal and Luray still have it. I'd define it by the accents of the locals and their "outside the beltway" friendliness. I do know that when I visited here as a kid, most restaurants served grits for breakfast and now I hardly ever see them on the menu.

I think its ridiculous that people decide the confederate flag is a sign of bigotry. In reality i had family that died for the confederacy so yeah I would say it is heritage not hate. just keep your yankee ass out of dixie.

I think there are some signs of "southern" left in NoVa, mostly with the roads, but that's it. Even some of the rural areas to me have more in common with, parts of rural Pennsylvania than let's say eastern NC where I'm originally from.
