Hi,

My husband and I are trying to find a nice rental, perferrably in the Arlington area. However, we are not sure by looking at addresses if the rentals are in Ballston, Courthouse etc... Any advice or suggestions.

Also can anyone tell us if the Viriginia Square area is nice. Would this area have more townhouses or single family houses for rent as opposed to the other areas in Arlington.

I addressed a similar question in your last topic on Arlington: http://www.city-data.com/forum/virgi...arlington.html. In that topic I gave links for Metro Maps, which show the areas immediately around the metro stops which will allow you to cross-reference on larger maps like the Google/Yahoo maps that others have suggested. The relevant zip codes are 22201 and 22203.

All of the areas you mention will have houses/townhouses for rent. All are safe, all are nice. Just stay as close as affordably possible to Fairfax Drive or Wilson Blvd to maintain the metro access that you desire.

I'll see if I can find some neighborhood maps online.

OK here's the Ballston-VaSquare association home page: Welcome to Ballston Partnership, which has a map and an aerial picture of the Ballston/Va Square area: Ballston Partnership | Urban Development | Maps (http://www.ballstonvasquare.org/maps.html - broken link).

Here's the Arlington's Urban Villages section at the Commuter Page: Arlington's Urban Villages: Court House, Arlington's Urban Villages: Ballston, Arlington's Urban Villages: Virginia Square, Arlington's Urban Villages: Clarendon. They have interactive maps where you can pinpoint things like schools and bike routes. There are also descriptions of the area and links to area rescources.

Some maps from the Arlington County Home Page (PDF): GIS Maps

New Resident Checklist, which has all utility and permitting contacts: Arlington Virginia New Resident Checklist

Arlington Economic Development description of Arlington's urban villages (their maps show the boundaries of the villages): Virginia Square neighborhood in Arlington, VA

Edit: A way-cool interactive map/sattelite hybrid by Wikimapia: Wikimapia - Let's describe the whole world!. The areas labelled as Lyon Village, Colonial Village, and most of Ashton Heights and Lyon Village are also decent, in addition to the usual Ballston, Va Square, Clarendon, and Courthouse.
