Well, with the decrease in home assessments, it seems that FFX Cty jacked up rates from .92 per $100 value to 1.04 per $100 value.

Therefore, my tax bill went up. Anybody get the same sh#tty news?

Just imagine how high it would be if Fairfax was turned into a city.

Nope, mine went down close to a grand (for the year).

As well it should....during the recent insanity, my assessment went a bit north of one million. Now, it's down to the high 700s, which is still nuts.

But I could care less what they say my house is worth....it will never be sold (unless they widen the Beltway to 500 lanes!). I inherited it and my kids will inherit it. It's our ancestral home!

Yea that's what I plan on doing too. I hope my kids and grand kids can have a place to stay without a mortgage payment

Are you not paying attention?

I said in a year when valuations on homes are going down, having a tax bill higher than last year is not expected.

If anything, having a tax bill the same as last year is understandable, but not having a bill that's higher than last year's.

The County is not going to play with numbers and screw themselves out of tax money. Wait until your assessment goes back up again, they wont be so quick to lower the tax rate.

What happens if your kids inherit it and don't want to live in it? What if they all want to sell it? Or no one can afford to buy out the others?

What if they would rather have the money to buy a house that they choose? That's what usually happens.
