When I was out for a jog in Arlington yesterday, I noticed that the infamous "Skinny House" on Barton St. (~1 mile from Clarendon metro) finally sold!

I live fairly close to there, and that place had been on the market for at least a year...we were convinced that it would never sell, but apparently someone decided to go for it.

Has anyone else noticed this house? It's the one on the right:

I am not familiar with the house, but I am curious on the history behind its narrow width. Property size restriction? I would think the county would have a minimum lot size for building a home. Perhaps it's built on an pre-existing home's foundation and is grandfathered. Anyone in the know?

Cool, where on Barton is that? I used to live on 11th and Barton, before that house was built.

In my neighborhood, this one took years to sell (I believe). It was nice inside, but tiny.

You piqued my interest with this, so I looked it up. It was listed for $950,000 and didn't sell. It was rented in August for $4600/mo.

I've noticed this house too and always wondered what the builder was thinking. I wonder how much it ultimately sold for.

I like it. A lot.
As well as the house next to it.

I would guess its skinny construction was just a function of it being on a skinny lot. Add in the often-required minimum setbacks and, viola, skinny house!

Its a nice house, though.

If I lived in that house with all those windows, I'd definitely order a free sex offender report. If I had anorexia or bulemia however, I might find the skinny halls more to my liking.

The house on Princess St never sold. The MLS listing says it's been withdrawn and that they're "taking a break but call if you have a serious buyer." Tax record lists it as being 936 sq ft.
