It all depends on your work hours. My commute from Harris Teeter (or more specifically, the drive-thru Starbucks at the Harris Teeter plaza
) to Ballston via Columbia Pike|Carlin Springs takes me 15 minutes most days.

If anyone has a way to get to Ballston Commons without Glebe Rd from West End Alexandria I'd love to hear it.
I know exactly what you mean. When I drive on Glebe Road I tend to shift between left and right lanes: I go to the left lane to avoid being held up by buses that stop to pick up people, and I switch to the right lane to avoid being held up by people making lefthand turns. It's like an obstacle course and, like you said, badly designed. My guess is that it was designed in a time when there was much less traffic. That's true of most of this area: There just isn't enough road space to accommodate all of the people.
