Looks like we'll have guests coming in for the Cherry Blossom Festival. I'd like to serve them some "cherry" foods, or maybe go to a restaurant that has a specialty "cherry" food. Could be anything from the world's best cherry pie to a chocolate cherry milkshake to a cherry BBQ sauce.

Any ideas?

Mom's Apple Pie in Leesburg? They have yummy pies and I'm sure cherry pie will be on their list.

I make a yummy chicken or pork sauce - some Dijon mustard, cherry preserves and a splash of vinegar. After the meat is done, mix sauce ingredients and heat in the skillet/pan you used for the meat and cook until the "nose tingle" is gone (that's the vinegar) - alternatively: I do boneless pork loin chops in a skillet (easy recipe) - brown on each side for a few minutes, reduce heat to low/simmer and cover, each side only takes a few more minutes, when you flip - put the sauce on each chop, cover and simmer again for a few minutes.

(get Bath & Body Works Cherry Blossom body wash, lotion, etc. in the guest room/bath)

A lot of city restaurants have cherry blossom specials. I believe that the Post tends to do an annual write-up of who's featuring what. If memory serves, the Mandarin Oriental gets pretty creative.

Now that's my idea of how to give cooking instructions! If you ever get sick of your job, you could see if Cookology needs another teacher...

Just thinking aloud... but do you think if I got that quark cheese it would mix well with cherry preserves? I was thinking I could make one giant sugar cookie, spread the quark and cherries on top, and create a cherry pizza.
