Thinking ahead... in another 5-6 weeks spring will begin bursting out all over Virginia and I'm looking for suggestion for great places to take photos. Something besides the cherry trees downtown or Meadowlark Gardens. Any ideas?

Here are my suggestions...

Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg
Oatlands Historic House and Gardens
or
Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria
Woodlawn

Someone mentioned the Virginia Arboretum the other day. That's definitely on my list, now. The alley of dogwood trees is spectacular!

Are these all great places to take our two young ones for photos? We bought a new camera just before Christmas and I'm so over snow pictures!

Ok this is going to sound dumb.. What I wish someone (wink-wink) would take a picture of the blooming trees on Loudoun County Parkway, right in front of the Ashburn Post Office. Seriously, they are GORGEOUS! Large, mature trees with beautiful blooms. They make me smile like an idiot in the spring time.

Any of the battlefields. I really like the one in Leesburg (don't know if you're close to it.. Balls Bluff), you can take a walk in the woods (there is a nice path going to the graveyard) and you'll get plenty of opportunities for beautiful pictures. I think our best photos of DS are from there. They can climb on fallen trees, tree stumps (sp?) and so on.. Also, the trees are very pretty there year round. Ida Lee park can be great for photos too, just watch out for deer poo if you venture out to the fields.

Not in NoVA, but... I always liked Dumbarton Oaks when I lived in Georgetown. (The museum is nice, too.)

LOL, me too! Meadowlark Gardens is a great place to take photos with little ones becuase they can run all over the place, and there's plenty of places to snap a great photo without having to worry about 20 other people waiting to take a shot in the same spot. IMO, the cherry trees there are just as pretty as the ones downtown (excecpt, of course, no Jefferson Memorial).

The way this snow's coming down right now, my spring photos might end up being photos of giant snow drifts. Some of them will be there until May.
