Quick question - what town/city in NWI do you think has improved the most over recent years? A lot of the threads on here focus on areas that are declining but which do you feel are changing for the positive?

For example, I live in Chicago but a bunch of my friends and I played at Lost Marsh golf course and were really impressed with the course and club house which prompted a lot of talk about the recent improvements to Hammond over the last few years. Regardless of what people think of the Mayor, it seems the city has really taken some major efforts to improve itself.

I'll admit I don't live in Hammond so city residents have a more accurate knowledge of which direction the city is going, but there does seem to be a large amount of new development and progress. Are there any other towns in the area that seem to be agressively focusing to redevelop? Maybe Gary, East Chicago, Whiting, etc.?

Either no towns are improving or this is a very boring topic for everyone

Post My take

I honestly don't think only one town has improved...have any towns become more popular? yes, but for different reasons...I think if you specify specific areas in improvement, it will be easier to name towns...I'll try my best

Most improved housing stock: Saint John

Most improved in infill development (residential & commercial): Munster

Most improved downtown: Valparaiso

Most improved schools: Crown Point (not that they were bad, but they have gotten a lot better)

(add to the list...if I think of any more, I'll post them)

Despite what alot of posters have said in the past, myself included, some areas of Gary HAVE improved! Last year I drove thru my old East Glen Park nieghborhood and was happily amazed at the improvements I saw since my last visit. No doubt there is much more to do. But I now have more hope for Garys future than i did just 2-3 years ago!

Default Car dealerships

Hey everyone...does anybody know what is going on with the new Muller Acura that was supposed to be coming to Merrillville? It would be located right next to Lexus of Merrillville. All there is on the land is a "coming soon" sign.

Here is the article about the proposed dealership:

Acura dealership coming to Merrillville

If this is built, I am not necessarily saying that this will make Merrillville the most improved town at all...but I think it will be an improvement to NWI as a whole!

So does anybody have any information? Thanks!
