Look in the lakes region just north of LaPorte. Try to get your kids into the Crichfield Elementary School, if possible.

Crap I just sold my great aunts home in LaPorte on over 2 acres (3bd 1.5 bath brick ranch) for $92k!

Anyways yeah LaPorte is better--but is firmly in the snow belt. At least driving from LaPorte to Knox you can take HWY 30 which should be pretty clear.

Knox is backwards. Starke County and one other county in southern Indiana have lowest scores for standard of living in Indiana (someone on here posted it by county)--

If I had to move north and work in Knox I would probably also take a look at Plymouth and Culver but I also would check out the Valpo area (although you'd have more driving).

If you like rural living though and have to pick someplace in Starke Co I would pick North Judson over Knox just due to schools.

I grew up in North Judson and am very familiar with the area (including LaPorte) so if you need anything PM me.
