No longer a hurricane per weather channel. Long term rain forecast downgraded to 5-8 inches.

Not here either. We have about 40 mph gusts that are much more frequent, but that's about it.

I know the Koolau's are getting a bunch of rain.

I'm about a mile from the ocean and it is POUNDING, I can hear it from my house.

Wow, I've never seen a hurricane get decapitated like that without any land interaction. In ~24 hours, it went from a 130 mph Cat 4 storm to a 70 mph tropical storm with zero land interaction. I'm not sure but that may be a record for rapid weakening of a hurricane ever. We really dodged a bullet here. Forecasting technology has definitely proved itself. Great job, CPHC.

Looks like Oahu will keep it's record of never having a hurricane make landfall in modern history.

Oahu is so small, seems it would be very difficult for a hurricane to make a direct hit.

I’m at Walmart now and it’s fun to see all the out of stock items people panic shopped and hoarded. My oh my what will folks do with their 20 cases of bottled water and 30 packs of ramen noodles. Folks blew their paychecks on a light rainstorm.

So you are mocking people for doing the right thing?

Thankfully it appears O’ahu may not take as much of a hit as originally predicted, whew. But I feel so bad for those on Hawaii and Maui Hawaii especially has seen its share of disaster between the volcano eruptions and now this hurricane. My prayers go out to them.

I’m mocking people for not already being prepared, hoarding, and wasting.

The right thing is to always be prepared, not sprint like a mad man at the last minute to hoard every non-perishable food item before waiting in line for 2 hours then waiting another 2 hours to top off your already filled up gas tank.

I did not make 1 single trip to the store or waste 1 second in any “hurricane line” because I already had everything I needed. Didn’t need to buy 1 single case of water because, surprise, I already drink tons of it. Life works a lot better when one doesn’t wait until the last minute.

I'd rather people get supplies - than go without. The sheer number of people unprepared is surprising - at least to me.

I've got an electric car - so no worries on gas for me, but why does everyone have to rush to the gas stations??? I mean, seriously, where does everyone think they are going to be driving if it was a catastrophic hurricane on Oahu, essentially a 40x18 mile island.

For West Maui the worst was the brush fires that blazed in several places. The home of a friend of mine burned to the ground. Really sad...
