In another head scratching move - the state will install raised crosswalks on the Pali Highway.

Speed limit reduced to 30 MPH. Guess they never heard of pedestrian overpasses.

The way the state thinks, they'll figure that installing speedbumps on the freeway makes sense. After all, slower speeds saves lives right? Why not just ban all automobile travel while they're at it? lol

instead of installing a raised crosswalk, the State better install another traffic light.

The problem with Pali Highway is that most motorists will exceed the speed limit (including me) when they approach town. The highway after the tunnel is a long downward drive and so few traffic lights in between. The State should never ever install crosswalks (on a highway?) without traffic light on Pali Highway. Most crosswalk users are Seniors and accidents are prone to happen.

IMO those crosswalks at Pali Highway, especially during night time without lighting, are death traps.

They don’t need more traffic lights. They need a few overhead walkways

No they need people to slow down. Period. The speed limit should be 30 mph for the entire stretch. People blast through those residential areas at 45-50 mph. And those speed "humps" are perfectly fine driving over at 25-30 mph. In fact if it were my choice I'd be installing these speed humps on many other thoroughfares not because they just slow people down but because it will destroy those ridiculously loud illegal modified exhaust systems on lowered racer cars.

Traffic lights or bridge overpasses don't solve the problem. The only way to physically force cars to slow down is to add humps. Hopefully the new administration looks at other spots for them.

You must not drive the Pali often - the speed limit is 30 mph

It is a State Highway - the new administration for the City and County has no say on State Highways.

Much like Caldwell was happy to wash his hands if the year long closure of half the highway last year - he loved saying it was the State's responsibility.

Maybe... but the incidents and deaths mostly involve the elderly. It may be a bit much for them to hike up that steep overpass at their age.
