I am planning to visit hawaii, honolulu island. Can someone recommend me a good and economical hotel to stay. I do not want to spend much but at the same time want a good hotel. Please recommend me one for booking.

Hard to know what you might consider a "good" hotel without knowing what you're interested in doing/seeing and what you'd like to pay. Honolulu -- like any city -- has lots of neighborhoods, some more expensive than others. (Honolulu is a city, BTW, the island is Oahu.) If you'll give us a bit more info on your expectations and requirements, you'll likely get better suggestions.

Thanks Whynot for your reply. Also thanks to point out about oahu. I am actually looking to come there on a small trip for around 4-5 days. Just to chill, relax and enjoy. As i dont know much about the island and its hotels, some information would be great. I am looking for a medium rates options, not very high. In that way, expecting it to be good enough (may be a 3 star hotel for stay which could include breakfast).

If you want to "chill", you HAVE to look into staying on the North Shore!!
Actually, there is a hostel, right on the waterfront at waimea bay!! I'd do it!!
Check out the Turtle Bay Hilton, I'm not sure about their rates, but definitely tell them that you would like something in whatever your price range is, they could probably accomodate you.

Vette-dude is right try price line to get the best deal. "Medium range" varies widely especially in Honolulu. You best decide on what type of things you would like to do and then book the location. If you want action...Waikiki is you spot. If you want to surf...try the North Shore...if you want to Hike etc....there are lots of places...will you be renting a car or relying on the Bus?

Local folks usually stay at the Pagoda or the Ala Moana Americana, I think it is called these days. It is just at the other end of the parking lot of Ala Moana Shopping center. They are both just outside Waikiki, within walking distance to Ala Moana beach and the major bus depot is Ala Moana shopping center so if you want The Bus it is almost literally underfoot.
