I'm a Florida native that has been living in CT for the past 24 years. We are planning on moving back to Florida next summer. Not concerned about jobs as we have that taken care of but we do have two kids, ages 9 & 11, so schools are important. I grew up in Ocala but we are looking at the Beverly Hills area. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, do you like living there, pros, cons, etc.... A little background....we currently live in a big city, so looking for a smaller, community feel. Need to slow down, better quality of life, etc......Thanks!!

Keep in mind that Beverly Hills, FL is primarily a 55+ community and not great for kids. It is a smaller community to say the least.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't realize that but am not surprised. Any suggestions? We really like Crystal River but want to rent at first and I feel we'll be limited. So if anyone can suggest other towns in Citrus County that would be a great place to raise a family, I would appreciate it!

We lived in Beverly Hills for 2 and 1/2 yrs in Pine Ridge. My sons went to Locanto HS . They always complained there wasn't much to do for young people in Citrus County. The mall in Cyrstal River was the closest thing for young people to find entertainment. Everything is spread out. It's very country like living up there. If you are into fishing, swimming, hiking, hunting then it may work out well for you. The people we met were all so wonderful, like Mayberry. Citrus Springs is another community you can consider .inverness as well. I suggest renting in the area and getting to know it before you settle down. There are a lot of seniors in Citrus County but there are neighborhoods that are a good mix. Good luck hope this was of some help.

It was definitely helpful, thank you! So much to consider and we are doing our research. Who knows, we may end up closer to Ocala then we wanted to! We are looking for the opposite of what we have here in CT and having been raised in Florida, it does help. My kids will be in for a culture shock I'm sure.

We would have to go to Ocala for more choices in entertainment and shopping. The other thing is Citrus county only had a man made beach, not like the beautiful beaches in other counties. It would be a 2 hr ride to get to Clearwater bch or Daytona bch. I preferred the ride to Daytona from Ocala. If you haven't lived in Florida for many yrs you may be happily surprised that the area around Ocala has built up quite a bit. It may be a better fit for you and your kids.
