John, my husband and I just purchased a resale home in Stone Creek. I did not even look at Summerglen - just because of location. It was between OTOW (Candler Hills) and Stone Creek for us. Stone Creek won out because of amenities. The only thing that I liked better at OTOW was that they had more activities.

I second befriend's thoughts on using the various communities' stay and play programs to really get a gut feel for what it is like to live there. I know that SummerGlen actually pairs you with a host couple who joins you for lunch and gives you their insights into living in the community. The cost is only $129 for three days and two nights and includes continental breakfasts, lunch with the host couple, and an option round of golf. It's a good deal, plus if you purchase, they refund the cost.

Default SummerGlen or Stone Creek

Hi John!

2 1/2 years ago I started researching retirement communities, in Florida. I had over 100 places researched and narrowed it down to 6 retirement communities. As soon as my husband and I looked over SummerGlen, we knew that this was the community for us! My parents had retired in 1984 to Continental Country Club, in Wildwood, Florida. We always loved going there because the people were genuinally friendly and you felt like most everyone was your family. That is the same feeling we got, when visiting SummerGlen. My husband and I have lived here almost a year and we know that we made the right choice in moving to SummerGlen. Good luck with your search! lil' k

I am interested in opinions on each from folks out there. I'd appreciate it if comments were limited to them only as I am already overloaded and do not want other communities added to the equation.

Thanks for any help.

Karen,

Thanks for the encouragement. I will be staying at SummerGlen from March 21 (afternoon) through March 23 (afternoon). After that, I'll be stopping at Stone Creek and then home.

If you and your husband would like to introduce yourselves, that would be fine with me.

John

Default Writing Back to you

[quote=Karen Foran;7703371]Hi John!
Hello Again, John!

I did not go to Stone Creek but yes, I did do a lot of research on it. I will be visiting there, around the same time you will be here!

My friend from WI wants to check that community out, just to have a second community to compare ours with.

Good luck with your decision making! I know that if you choose SummerGlen, you will not regret it in the least.

bgmiami - All three golf courses are being sold? Is there a contract in place? I know there has been a lot of talk in the past that Pulte/Del Webb wanted to sell SCG&CC golf course. I am surprised that I have not heard about this. Any idea what the price is?

Tom,

What lot does SummerGlen use for their 3 day stay. You do work for them don't you?

We have been looking at some 55+ communities here in the Atlanta area and noticed that most residents seem to be in their mid 70's. We are in our 60's and wondered if the age 70's is prevalent in the SummerGlen and StoneCrest communities?
