We have neglected to add that Ohio is one of the great classical music capitols of the world. The Cleveland Orchestra is considered to be in the top 5-7 orchestras on the planet. The Cincinnati Symphony is one on the nation's best and the Columbus Symphony is excellent. Ohio is only 1 of 4 states that has 3 or more major ICSOM orchestras, the others being New York, Texas and California. The orchestras of Toledo, Akron and Dayton are all quite good. Ohio is also home to 3 of the top 20 or so music schools in the world- the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

Amish country with it's rolling hills, and vibrant colors in the fall. Not bad.

But hey to each their own. Glad you're happy.
Where I live - SE Portland - hills are a non-issue unless you actually WANT to go to them (e.g. skiing/sledding in the winter). There are places where they are issues, but more often than not, winter driving is FAR easier here than in Ohio. So far, I've had exactly zero shovelable snow and the lowest temp has been 24 this winter.

Mountains, deserts, dramatic ocean vistas....oh, and Oregon also has the change of colors in the fall, although not quite as much as Ohio, as our trees are often evergreens (there is no comparison, however, in the number of trees between the states - OR has far more, due to it being far less developed). And a stunning backdrop of Mt. Hood above a forest filled w/reds & yellows isn't a bad sight.

Yup, it's about ninety minutes north of here - we've passed it a few times on our way to/from Seattle. Closer by, we have Evergreen Wings & Waves - home of the Spruce Goose and a medium sized indoor water park. Also, a number of our indoor pools are aquatic centers w/large waterslides & lazy rivers. However, when all is said and done, Kalahari is the undisputed king of waterparks - nothing comes close.

IDK, something about CFA's sandwich, waffle fries, and Oreo shake just makes my mouth water. Others can try to duplicate it, but they just don't seem to have the success, IMO.

It sounds cool, and as I said, someday I want to drive across country, but Ohio is my home. That's not to say that when I retire that I won't become a snowbird, as that is the game plan. And as far as winter weather this year, we've had the rare treat of a mild winter. I've shoveled maybe once or twice, and even after the fact the snow was gone 3 days later.

I must admit to NOT missing the snow much. Well, not missing it around town - we have gone up to Mt. Hood several times to do some sledding & winter play. It's nice to be able to drive to the snow...haha.

So far, all snow has been gone w/i about three hours of falling. I'm pretty sure we haven't had a snowfall last besides 10am, except one that fell midday on a Saturday & accumulated up to about 2" before disappearing an hour later.

I will say this, though - it is COMICAL to watch the people react to snow around town. If you get even a slight dusting, it's like armageddon has hit.
