They lived in Ellicott City, north of Columbia, not Baltimore proper. Relatively close (one hour) to all of the attractions of Washington, DC, as well. Very safe, great schools, great parks, and relative proximity to great cultural and historical attractions. Baltimore's art museums alone likely well surpass those in Nashville. Certainly, Baltimore has better pro sports than Nashville, and its Inner Harbor is dotted by great attractions, such as the National Aquarium and Ft. McHenry. Have you ever been???

My ocean destination has been Delaware, north of Ocean City. It's great and relatively close. Obviously, better in the summer than the spring, and the more southern location of Carolina and Florida beaches likely is the biggest reason for their popularity with Ohioans.

DC and Baltimore are not my fav places, just okay for me. Different strokes for different folks. Not a fan of the East Coast except for NYC.

Fair enough. The east coast is definitely the most overrated part of the country.

You parents are virtue signalers?

I mean no offense, but Vanderbilt truly isn't much better...

A few reactions seem to pop up pretty regularly.

1. Me: I'm originally from Ohio.
Them: Oh, so you're a Buckeye?!
Me: No, get away from me with that garbage.

2. Me: I'm originally from Ohio.
Them: Oh, Iowa huh.
