Yes, just remember to not use a tie down on your horse in the water, or you might end up taking a swim much faster than you want to.

cntrygirl,

Thanks for telling me about the horse riding along the Illinois. I don't go horsebacking riding due to osteoporosis, and I am not a good rider. Never really learned since riding a few friend's horses as a child. But I worked on as a caretaker on a ranch in CA 3 years ago. Getting kicked really scared me as it happened once. My boss sent the horse back to its owner.

Fall is my favorite time of year here too. We came here last October and bought a house. Left on the 3rd before the leaves turned. Came back on November 16th just as the last trees were losing their leaves, so I got to see a little of it. Not enough. This year I want to drive the Illinois in fall and go down towards Poteau to drive through those mountains.

You are going to love it here.

My other favorite time of the year here is winter when it snows. We had 3 snows this year, and none of them were more than 2 inches if I am correct. One or two stayed on the ground for a week. The ice storm, which I guess we seldom have, was beautiful, but a lot of trees broke, and our yard was littered. The lowest temperature I believe was 18 degrees.

I was looking forward to summer, and while the air still feels good to me, it is hard to work outside, and you do need insect repellent. It wouldn't bother me so much but I get shortness of breath in the heat and will see doctor about it Monday. It is less notable in winter and only happens when I bend to pick weeds or for other things. Others may find it wonderful to work outside. A Garden Club woman told me to wet a terry cloth hand towel and put it around your neck. Works wonders for keeping cool.
