When my second husband was 17, he played mandolin in Bob Wills' band.

Bob Wills = The Good Stuff. The real stuff. Ain't another like him, especially these days with the Top 40 sounding "country" coming out of Nashville.

You're lucky to hear a fiddle/twin fiddles in the "country" songs of today about every 10th song on the radio.....and it's usually mixed in with some R&B sounding backbeat. There are a few of those young fellars (Luke Bryan, I believe that is his name and Jason Aldean, many others like Tim McGraw's newer stuff) I just automatically turn the channel because it sounds more like a Pop/R&B song rather than country.

I do like the Oklahoma Red Dirt stuff though. There's an authenticity to most of it.

Charlie Pride is the real deal!

Darius Rucker? Isn't he Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish? He ain't country. Not by a long stretch. I'm so sick of country music just inheriting all the other has-beens from other genres.....and then all of a sudden these "country" artists begin dropping their g's (for example, they start saying "fixin'" instead of "fixing" which is how they pronounced it previously) from their words in their songs, saying ya'll, and singing with a fake twang. They add a steel guitar or a banjo to their music and now they're bonafied country? Not real. Not for me.

I'd be for Oklahoma/Texas taking their Reddirt and starting a new country music city here in the South-Central. The vast majority of that junk coming out of Nashville these days sounds more like pop radio and not real country. Gimme Merle. Gimme Waylon. Gimme Hank and Hank Jr. Give me some Bob Wills. Give me the Possum. Gimme some Cash.

There's just no one out there anymore that comes close to these guys. Good thing I can listen to the greats on 99.7 Hank FM here in OK City.

Default I Always Wonder ((( Why )))

I Always Wonder ((( Why )))

Tulsa isn't a recording center for the " country music genre " however there's is a strong live
music movement going in the Tulsa area , but no record companies and studio's to mention.

Tulsa should make at the very least a moninal effort at attracting some interest as far as
music talent and potential records companies to it's metropolitan area.

what makes you think we even WANT that Nashville, Austin, or California riff raff?

You do realize that the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is in Tulsa?
