Default Road Trip!! (Lots of pictures)

We went to a Car Show recently and of course I took pics.

First pics are from Waurika as we passed through:

Terrible shot of the Red River

That's odd...

Funny shaped rock isn't it?

O.K. Now I KNOW we aren't in OK anymore!

Byers TX

Had to have a couple of pictures of Petrolia! My Dad's family lived there.

Hmmm which way should we go?

We must be in Dean, TX.

I'll bet we are going to the World of Wheels car show in Wichita Falls, TX!

Everything is bigger in Texas!

Here we are! The MPEC in Wichita Falls, TX

Awww!! I miss my '72 Malibu!! She was that exact same color!

The Car Show pics can be seen here: Car Show

I will post the trip home, through downtown Waurika and around Waurika Lake in the morning.

Seems I am babysitting today, so my 'playtime' here will be short.

Back into the car! We are headed home.

Glad I am not driving! All those signs make my brain hurt.

*sigh* Yet another wildfire...

Bye Wichita Falls! It was fun.

At the edge of town:

Cute! The rest stop looks like Oil Wells.

Another dreadful shot of the Red River.

Whoo Hoo!

Our State Laws are open 24/7 !

Hey look! It's snow! (Not really, just left over Cotton in the field. )

New Teeth anyone?

Ohh boy... looks like a roller coaster...

A really loooong one...

Waurika!

Downtown Waurika, OK... The road is paved with bricks.

Love that paint job!

Mmm! Fried Pies!

Let's head out to Waurika Lake...

Out by Waurika Lake, there had been a wildfire recently. This area is SOOO beautiful in the spring and summer!

Even though I know it will all grow back quickly, it still makes me sad to see it all burned.

Plaque at the 'lookout'

Waurika Lake is HUGE and teeming with wildlife.

Fishing anyone?? I know for a fact there are some WHOPPERS in that lake!

Hello pretty.

Another fire on the other side of the lake... we won't go that way.

Flyover!

These are the guys that MATTER!!! Our SW OK Heroes...

One last glimpse of the Lake... Bye bye!

Another perfect ending to a fun day...

Up in Montana they decided to let the fires run thier course, but protect property and life at the same time. They found that when they let the fires go, Mother earth renews life and beauty on her own and better that before. Sometimes man needs to step aside and let nature do her job, "she's better at it anyway".

Thanks so much for the pics and trouble you took to post them all LadyRobyn. It's like I went to the car show with you. I like seeing what different areas look like. It's hard to capture the beauty of the big land.

That was some show. Those cars are fixed up!

And, everyone, don't forget to support your local FD.

I think all the "You Are There" photos that Peggy and LR take
from the car are fantastic...

They give you a REAL feel for the place.
(And I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates them.)

I have a lot of cool photos like that too from up here....
Too bad I don't like the NH forum as much as I like the OK forum.

I bet it would help sell this place...
I better work on my self discipline huh?
