Blackwell is a very racist town. It always has been. Shirley had it right, its horrible. Anyone who has lived somewhere else would know that. Maybe the people that say its great are the people that we are talking about.I hate to talk bad about anyone, but this town is just sad. Driving into blackwell is like driving into a dump. It is dirty. Maybe if you lived in the country and only went there for groceries..maybe then it would be ok.

Stillwater is a nice area, good school and a major University. Ponca City is a nice family place but there are rumors of upcoming job losses/layoffs there, so social services will likely take a downturn.

Blackwell, like many towns/cities in the world has racists. I have lived "somewhere else" & have seen much worse. I don't know what you're talking about. If you hate to talk bad about anyone then you should . There are wonderful, caring people, great schools, a new secure elementary school being built. There's many more things good & bad about Blackwell. Like every other place in the world there's always room for improvement. I would advise anyone wanting to move to another town to visit first. Stay a few nights in a motel & talk to the local residents. It's all what every individual person sees when they see a new place. You see a dump, someone else sees small town charm. I've lived in Ponca & was not impressed. There was too much noise for me, especially at night (police sirens, people yelling outside, fighting, gunshots).

There's no reason to make such nasty comments to discourage someone from moving to a particular place. If they're smart, they'll do their "home work" & find a place that they love.

Well, according to city-data, Blackwell has lost 6.5% in population since 2000, so that's not very encouraging about that town. I think that general area of the state has been on the decline for a while.

Exclamation tha skoolz suk here

i simply would not advise moving anywhere within 50 miles of ponca city(blackwell, tonkawa, newkirk, stillwater included), if you have kids that is , ponca has a nice golf course , lots of hunting and fishing oppurtunities, and indian casinos are popping up like starbucks right now , nice real estate with lakefronts and big fancy houses for those with deep pockets, but for people under 30 this whole area is a canker sore of drugs peppered with wanna-be gangsters who are starting to actually pull the trigger to prove themselves,i am 21 years old and have had 1 freind OD on oxycontin, numerous others are addicted to ocycontin, cocaine, various pills, methamphetamine(ice, dope, shimshamwallawallab ingbang) and there at least 10-15 large scale meth labs busted every year ,1 freind was shot in a "gang confrontation", BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! ill compare it to a table at a restraunt , a adult sees the top of it and whats on it....... a kid sees the bottom where the trash and chewed up gum is .... but yea, as soon as me and my family get the money up we are moving to canada...... bartlesville is about the same, with better jobs available

If Blackwell is such a nice place, why is it losing population?

I think it probably depends on who you associate with. I don't know anyone who's had gang or drug problems and I live in Stillwater but have friends in Ponca.
