It is a nice rainy day in Tahlequah, and so while my husband is busying putting up an American flag on this Memorial Day weekend, I decided to answer Jammie’s questions about employment in Tahlequah, and I am sure others have wanted to have this information too. There are more jobs here than I ever expected.

From the Sunday paper:

CHHA’s needed at Cornerstone Health Care, At Hospice they need RN, PRN CHHA and CAN, not sure if that is one each or if they are replacing their entire staff. Denny’s in friendly downtown Locust Grover needs mangers, cooks, and servers. Maybe their entire crew walked out the door too. But don’t quote me. Then the Cherokee Nation needs contract specialist, sanitation installation specialist, early childhood educator, EMS communications Officer, Program manager or vocational rehab, carpenter, principal, more carpenters, infrastructure analyst, senior security supervisor, and a teacher for their Head Start. Go Ye Village needs cooks. If you think you can cook please apply. We can use all the good cooks we can get in Tahlequah. Eagle Creek needs Mental Health Technicians, therapist and eminence worker. And now we need Personal Care Aides. If you are personal please apply. (Now remember these extra comments are all mind and not part of the Tahlequah news staff.) American Castings needs cast members, oops, nope; they need maintenance mechanical and electrical, iron pourer and grinder. No experience required. Just wear protective clothes and goggles. They have great health benefits too, which I think would really be needed. Here is an ad that I have seen daily for months: Barn Building Crew, but mind you, you have to go to Wyoming or Colorado, and so if you don’t find a job in Tahlequah, you can always get a job as a Barn Builder. They have workman’s comp, and that is necessary for this type of job too. Okay now we need a sandblaster and painter in Wagoner, and they have excellent benefits. An LPN is needed at a medical practice, but medical benefits only include medical advice from their doctor on staff, and I am really sure of this. They need staff counselors at a YMCA camp and a facility director at another. For the first job you get free room and board, and again, lets hope they have good cooks and a spider/scorpion/snake free environment. It looks like we have another excite of workers at the Tahlequah City Hospital. They need everything, nurses, clerks, techs, cooks, etc. Only excellent chefs need apply. They could use good nurses, etc. but I only have food on my mind. Hmm, NexLinx is coming to Tahlequah and they need customer service, sales, and other positions. They said that they have a fun environment, but being that I don’t know what kind of business they are I can’t tell you if it really is a fun environment. TTCU needs a loan officer. Wagner Community Hospital needs RNs and LPN and Nurse Aide. Now we need experienced welders in Wagoner, excellent benefits, a hairstylist is needed elsewhere, maybe here. Now we need a pole barn crew, but this is in Louisiana. Satellite installers are needed in Broken Arrow, but don’t expect them to uninstall your satellite if you decide you don’t like their service and want cable instead. We still have a dish on our house and to cable. This company will even give you free gas, now that isn’t a joke, really. Hulbert School needs new teachers, 3 to be exact, also a counselor and a paraprofessional. Hulbert is a small town nearby, and I didn’t even know they needed a school. If you decide to take this job I want to warn you that they have a speed trap as you are going into town, and they love to hand out tickets, but the latest news from our daily press is that we can’t really legally consider it a speed trap even though most who live here believe so. Some little café needs kitchen staff, no name, just a phone number. Med-Corp wants personal care assistants for homemaking chores. Can you make a bed? Mixer drivers needed, but I don’t think that this is a bar. They need drivers from St. Joseph, Mo to AR, IA, MO, and OK. Don’t expect to be home except on weekends. They have health benefits. A private RN/LPN is needed somewhere, and someone to repair small engines, and a newspaper carrier, part time nursery worker, the post office is hiring at $20/hr. They have paid vacations and training. More RN/LPN for pediatric care, secretary/receptionists at a realty, an last but not least the public schools need help for maintenance director, high school wrestling coach, counselor, E.D. teacher.

Jessaka, that was so nice of you to post that. You know, I've done a search on your local newspaper and have never come up with much at all.

The Grove newspaper has a few job openings, BUT it almost looks like if you aren't being transferred or won't be starting your own business, the smaller towns have scant jobs, except for medical of course, which is everywhere. Yesterday I went through the Tulsa newspaper and they have SO many jobs there that it's unbelievable. Wonder why that is. But something that's very impressive for that area is that many of the jobs offer benies the day of hire. That's normally the way it is here, too, but evidently isn't so in a lot of parts of the country. So many places now do the temp to hire thing or offer benies after 3 months and some even a year. That just doesn't work for some of us.

But thank you so much for taking the time to let us all know what Tahlequah has to offer.

Just wanted to add~the weather channel showed that you were getting very heavy rains down there. Too bad it's on the weekend.

Wow, you're right Jammie; there are tons of jobs in Tulsa according to the World classifieds, and they are mostly full time with benefits. Interesting.

We didn't get tons of rain here. Just morning and afternoon showers, which I love.

It's been raining down here in Texas for weeks with a day or two letup. My backyard is full of standing water everywhere and the grass is getting so high that I'm going to have to strap some pontoons on my lawnmower the next time I mow.

And the forecast is for more rain today and then a slight letup for a day until it all starts again on Thursday. I haven't see this much rain down here since I moved here in 1989.

Yipes. The sun is out here today. And when it did rain is was just showers but some heavier rain at times. I would just go inside, what until it stopped, go garden, and then come back in when it began raining again.

Yea, Tulsa seems to be FULL of employment opportuntities, but SHHHH.

We've been having so much wind up here the past few days. I've been checking your weather and you don't seem to be having a problem at all. I'm not just talking breezy~I mean like winds at 30 mph. gusting to 48 mph. Besides the cold and storms of winter, the wind has to be the worst thing about living up here.
