Hi Guys, your proberley sick of questions like this but I do need your advise please.
We are looking to move to the beautiful State of Oklahoma at the end of March from Vegas. We have visited the State twice & fell in Love with it, we traveled all around and through it! We need your help with regards...Tulsa or Oklahoma City areas, crime, utilities, weather, work etc. We are looking to rent a 2 bed house/apt somewhere so if you know anyone who has properties that would be great.
Many thanks

With regards to the Tulsa area, Broken Arrow has an extremely low crime rate and has a great housing and apartment market. Utilities are below average for the metro area and there is a a fair amount of work in the area. It was announced today that the city struck a deal with FlightSafety International to build a new 370,000 SF manufacturing facility and they will increase their staff from 687 to more than 1,000 when it is all complete so there is a strong business community here as well.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Don't want you to think we are unfriendly, Sammie. There are a lot of threads where some of things you asked about were discussed. If you use search the old thread titles, you will find some good discussions.

Just an idea, look at the Lake Texoma region. Lotsa nice houses and Texas is just down the road with no income tax! Groceries aren't taxed either. COL is a bit higher in certain parts around here, but not in the towns. Check out Durant, or even Sherman/Denison, TX.

How about waiting till you are here before you start sucking up.....besides not all of us are all that nice............as far as two bedrooms go, I know where you can get one for under $300......just don't go outside at night......or after lunch.......I also saw one for $2,500 a few days ago. Not knowing your budget, needs, etc not sure what to suggest. that $300 one is great if you are going to sell drugs....just don't agree to a long term lease.

FWIW, Texoma is close to two or three hours (depending on where you want to live) from OKC and even further from Tulsa. But it is a nice area.

It is stressful to move to a new state, and not knowing the particulars of where to look is a real concern. In the past, I have always made the leap and looked around the town I am moving to personally, then ~I~ make the decision. No one on any forum can really do much more than share their experiences.

I know this post is a little old, but I was considering a move to the state of Oklahoma myself too. I was wondering if anybody here could tell me a little about the state (i.e. lifestyle, cost of living, nightlife, schools, etc.) I drove through Oklahoma years ago, and I thought the state's landscape was gorgeous, and these voices in my head are telling me to go for it. In other words, tell me why I should or should not move here.
