I have some guest coming in town this afternoon. I'm hoping to show them how cool Omaha can be, but let's face it...that's not an easy thing to do here, especially in the winter.

So far I've thought of these things:

-Ice Skating downtown @ ConAgra
-Ladyfinger show at the Waiting Room
-Binge Drinking

What else is going on tonight?

I would skip the binge drinking, unless they are really into that. It just shows we have nothing better to do here than drink. What do they like doing? It's hard to say what to do without knowing that and honestly, there is TONS to do here. Old Market is a safe bet, even at this time of the year it's fun and the lights on the mall are awesome, at least to me. Lots of museums, shopping, shows (espeically now). All the resturants should be open so take them to your fav here. Try the visitors bureu to find things, even being monday there's lots to do.

I'm with you 'InTheO!'....I would like to (and will) skip the binge drinking. This is exactly my fear...I don't want to bore them and end up heading to some random bar. Nothing wrong with the bar...I just don't want it to be the highlight of the evening. I've lived in Omaha all my life, and there is a lot to see and do. At the same time it's cold right now, so things like the Old Market will be short-lived.

I don't know their interests intimately either, but it would be nice to have a few ideas for when they arrive. I guess what I was looking for was something unique to Omaha, and perhaps interactive. Dancing @ Espana, Jazz on the Green, The Alpine Inn...my guests always love these sorts of things...

We'll definitely have fun tonight...I just want to see what else is out there

Thanks for the suggestions 'InTheO!"....I think we may put the SAC museum on the itinerary

I recommend a good amount of alcohol, it usually makes people a bit more content regardless of the activity. (maybe take them somewhere with a live band)

Too bad you didnt take them to the Waiting Room last night - my sources tell me that Lady Gaga was drinking at the bar but was swarmed by people and left after someone identified her. Exciting for Omaha - I suppose.
