Drawing Room in Millard and
Club 89 (much like Club 64 which was already mentioned).... still remember the night of the shooting in Club 89 - Police were searching my neighborhood for the gunman... crazy night.

Totally forgot about Club 89. Can't remember if I had ever went there, though. And I remember the shooting.

First one that comes to my mind is Caniglia's on 7th Street. I think it was. When I was really young before I started school, we used to live pretty close to there. The 2nd one is of course Mr. C's.

I remember when we didn't have to pay a 10% tax to eat. This new food tax is prohibitive to eating out.

Wasn't that a real popular drive in located on Saddle Creek and Dodge where King Kong currently is?

Not really. I went to subway last week and the new tax added $.18 to my bill. I bet I loose more money than that from change just falling out of my pockets in a week.

My Blog: Forgotten Cuisine ...

I spoke to the blogger and she told me that Part 2 should be up pretty soon.
Thanks for sharing the Forgotten Cuisine Article, brought back a lot of memories. Omaha had so many great places to eat. Of course, there still are many great places, but so many are gone, which is sad. Now there are so many mediocre franchise places, I just cant see their draw. I've always preferred the local restaurants.

I remember Tiners, my parents used to order pizza from there, I thought it was very good.

Default Restaurant Memories...

Does anyone remember Chumley's? It was a family-owned burger place that was located where Sgt. Peffer's is now near Saddle Creek - near where Wolfson's Used Cars is. It's not quite Dundee, not quite Benson, either. Country Club area perhaps?

We'd go there when I was a kid, they had good burgers and fries.

Anyone remember Kenny's - it was where Borders is today on 72nd and Dodge. They had good food, too. Went there for special occasions when I was a kid.

I remember going to Big Joe's - I think that was in Bellevue wasn't it? There used to be a local TV show where they'd play polka music and show polka dancing. This is a while back for me, but it seems that the show and the restaurant were related.

I do miss the Short Stop - near 42nd and L. They had the best food!

This thread is making me hungry!

That area is, technically, Benson. Benson's boundaries are 72nd to Fontenelle Boulevard and Ames to Western Ave. A very big area.
