I saw the pictures. Actually, not bad at all. But then I tend to rent slums in sunny S. CA. I was amused with item 5, there,--"and if I had to guess, The Obama Administration probably is also partly to blame as well."

Good one.

So, still liking Omaha?

Glad to hear you found a good steakhouse. Maybe this will be another one. Gorat's is Warren Buffet's favorite steakhouse: Welcome to Gorat's | Gorat's. Anyways, it can't hurt to try it once and maybe he will be there as an added bonus. LOL.

I say this with no disrespect but we've had to lower our standards (read expectations) on many things since moving to the area. Things that we consider sub par (whether service or quality), locals consider exceptional or the "norm". For example, we had a house built for a north-east coast amount of money. For comparison, we priced the same house with the same everything (no extras) in the DC metro area and it was $1.3M easy! Anyway, shortly after moving in and bringing a handful of issues to the builder's attention we were told, "I think you both were expecting perfection"! For the amount of money we paid you dang right.....guilty as charged! To date all issues have been resolved but the mentality has been, We'll get to it, when we get to it. Based on casual conversations with the neighbors, they've experienced the same with their builder. The island mentality is in full effect here.......no one has a sense of urgency to do anything!

DESPITE ALL THAT, our experiences have not diminished our LOVE for the Omaha area! Almost a year and a half later we have ZERO regrets. We now consider Omaha home!

I definitely have to give Gorat's a try. I did try Johnny's cafe....it wasn't bad, it was gross!

Gorat's is living off their name IMO and actually closed for a while and opened back up, not great. I don't think it is close to Brother Sebastian's.

Upstream serves Omaha steaks that my gf is very partial to. I'm not a steak person myself, but they also have a killer gouda cheese soup!
