Did you check Seabridge at Beach and Adams in Huntington Beach? Not sure what the rentals go for, but when I lived there in 99-01, they were nice condos in a gated community, beautifully landscaped grounds and pools. My only problem was the soundproofing between the upper and lower units, but I'm not sure that can be avoided out there. It's only a mile from the beach, there was no A/C and we didn't really need it. Unbelievable but true!

Gonna check it out tomorrow. I'm here now and it's a madhouse. Had no idea that the US Open surfing Championships were going on but it's neat to be here. Hung at the beach most of the day and rode some of the best waves I ever have. I grew up on the East Coast and love the colder water.

Even though there were tons of people everyone I met and talked to was very friendly and I enjoyed just hanging out at the beach today. Seemed packed out of control but I asked around and people said it is not always like this. Is that true? They said July 4th and the Open Surfing Championships get the biggest crowds.

Had some great sushi at a place on Main (I think it was sushi fire?) and talked to a couple of local girls who live in the Harbour area and love it

tuesday nights downtown are crowded because of the "farmers" market. Summer weekends are really crazy. Starts to chill when school starts. Harbour area is very laid back, with enough to keep you entertained during the week. Also easier access to the freeways (without traffic I can make it to the Griffith Park Observatory (Hollywood) in about 40 minutes
