Hi,

I'll be commuting to Cal State Long Beach from Chino Hills. The route via 57 is shorter than the 605 route. I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule so I am able to plan around bad traffic times.

When is traffic the worst?

Thanks

I can only speak about the part of the 57 that begins around Imperial down to the 5. I'm assuming you will be taking the 91west-bound transition from the 57. It starts getting slow around 7am and continues (getting progressively worse) to about 9 or 10am. Coming back on the 57 Northbound, once you merge from the transition, is hit or miss, as there is currently construction on the right hand side (I think they are expanding it) around Imperial.

The 57 south is AWFUL in the morning (I drive over it on the bridge at YL Blvd every day) and it is completely jammed at around 7am.

You'll get better answers in the San Bernardino and Riverside Counties forum. If you're leaving before 8am you're pretty much screwed. After 8am go 71S to 91W and it won't be bad to Long Beach. Coming back you're basically screwed from about 2:30-7pm any route you take.
